5.) Dec. 4, 2013: Signs Bartolo Colon to a two-year deal
Alderson came out of nowhere (he had said the day before that the Mets weren't acquiring a starting pitcher) to snag Colon, who was coming off a terrific season with the A's. Colon was a rotation mainstay in 2014 and 2015 and signed a one-year deal to return for 2016, when he turned in his best season as a Met as they advanced to the Wild Card game.
