WASHINGTON -- New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said team officials are undecided whether to make an offer on free-agent infielder Yulieski Gourriel.
Gourriel, who defected from Cuba and was declared a free agent by MLB earlier this month, worked out for Mets officials on Monday in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
“We’re still evaluating where we are,” Alderson said Tuesday at Nationals Park. “We had a lot of people down there yesterday to take a look. We haven’t made a decision on that yet.”
Alderson said Gourriel took two rounds of batting practice from coaches, but not from pitchers at the team’s complex because he has not been playing games in recent months.
