BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Sandy Alderson will undergo a medical procedure this week in New York which will keep him from attending the general managers' meetings, Mets assistant general manager John Ricco said on Monday.
Alderson, 67, fainted during a news conference on Wednesday. Ricco said the procedure had been scheduled for after the season. But it was pushed back as the Mets made their run to the World Series.
Citing the general manager's privacy, Ricco declined to elaborate on the nature of the procedure, or whether it is related to Alderson's fainting spell last week.
The Mets will be represented by Alderson's top lieutenants: Ricco, Paul DePodesta and J.
