OF Justin Ruggiano has been sent to the disabled list and the team has called up T.J. Rivera from Triple-A Las Vegas, Terry Collins told reporters Saturday.
Ruggiano exited Friday's game after the fifth inning with left shoulder discomfort.
Collins said after the game that Ruggiano, who had injured his shoulder during his first game with the Mets, felt a sharp pain in his shoulder Friday night.
Collins also Saturday that Rivera has gotten some work in the outfield and could play there if he gets more comfortable.
