Edinson Volquez will rejoin the Royals Saturday, just days after learning of his father’s death.
Though he is scheduled to start Game 5 of the World Series against the Mets on Sunday night at Citi Field, the Royals will see where he is at emotionally and physically after returning to the Dominican Republic following the news Daniel Volquez, 63, had died of heart failure.
Volquez left immediately after pitching in Game 1 on Tuesday.
“He will be here Saturday,’’ Royals pitching coach Dave Eiland said.
Volquez is slated to start Game 5, but there are questions.
