The Mets got some bad news today, as infielder Ronny Mauricio has suffered a torn ACL iin his right knee while playing in the Dominican Winter League. As you might expect, the 22-year-old will require surgery.
A consensus top-100 prospect in baseball from 2020 through 2022, Mauricio fell off all of those lists coming into the 2023 season. After a hot start in Triple-A Syracuse, he leveled off a bit before eventually getting called up to the Mets’ major league roster and making his big league debut on September 1.
