Ron Darling is taking a leave of absence from the Mets’ broadcasting booth.
Darling, who is being sued by former teammate Lenny Dykstra, announced during the Mets’ game Saturday against the Braves that he is taking a leave from SNY because of a growth in his chest. He said he is going to have surgery next week.
USA TODAY Sports first published the news that Darling was taking time off.
Friends had told the website that the Mets’ pitching great isn’t stepping down because he is being sued by his former Mets teammate, and that it’s solely related for health reasons.
