Robinson Cano and the Mets dodged disaster when an MRI exam on his left hand came back negative a day after he was forced from Sunday’s win against Milwaukee, the second time in a week he had to exit a game due to being hit on the hand.
“It’s a huge relief,’’ said Cano, who was held out of the lineup for the Mets series opener against the Reds on Monday at Citi Field. “It is scary. I’ve been in this situation before. The last thing you want is to be out.’’
Cano’s X-rays were negative on Sunday, but the team was concerned enough with the injury that they sent him for further tests Monday.
