The Mets’ beleaguered bullpen will likely be without Robert Gsellman for the rest of the season.
The right-hander has a partial lat tear, the Mets said on Tuesday. The team had hoped Gsellman has could be back as early as Thursday after they backdated his IL stint to Aug. 12.
Gsellman was 2-3 with a 4.66 ERA for the Mets this season in 63 2/3 innings. The Mets called up Walker Lockett to take Gsellman’s place in the bullpen when he went on the IL on Friday, but he did not appear in the weekend series against the Royals.
