The Mets designated RHP Kevin McGowan for assignment on Wednesday. The move came one day after the Mets signed RF Jay Bruce.
McGowan allowed five runs on eight hits across 8.2 innings of relief. He walked six batters and struck out eight. He made his major league debut in August of 2017 when the Mets hosted the Diamondbacks at CitiField.
The 26-year-old spent the last four seasons progressing through the Mets' farm system after he was drafted in the 13th round of the 2013 MLB Draft.
