Reyes pleads not guilty to domestic abuse charge

An attorney entered a not guilty plea for Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes to a charge of domestic abuse in a Maui court on Tuesday.

Reyes wasn't present for Tuesday's arraignment as his attorney, David Sereno, waived his presence. The next court date is scheduled for Jan. 14, when a pretrial hearing is scheduled.

Reyes was arrested after an argument with his wife that police said turned physical at a resort in Hawaii on Oct. 31. He was jailed on $1,000 bond and issued a citation to stay away from his wife for three days following the arrest.
