In something of a surprise move, reports on Thursday say the Mets will sign starting pitcher Rick Porcello. After reportedly signing Michael Wacha the day before, the Mets are now flush with starting pitching.
Porcello was among the best pitchers in the game as recently as 2016, when he won the AL Cy Young award (much to the infamous, vulgar chagrin of Kate Upton). Since then, though, he has not been particularly good, capping off the three-year stretch with 5.52 ERA last season. Could Porcello be done at age 30? We’ll find out next season, apparently.
