The Mets are preparing to trade RHP Rafael Montero before opening day, but no deals are imminent, reports Matt Ehalt of NorthJersey.com.
Montero has struggled mightily throughout the spring, but sources told Ehalt that there is still interest in Montero - even if he is not likely to yield much in return.
The 27-year-old has allowed a run in five of his six appearances, with his only scoreless outing being his first one of the spring when he struck out four batters across two innings.
Montero fared better in his most recent outing on Saturday, allowing one run across 2.
