In the event Jeurys Familia begins the season under suspension, Addison Reed will be the team's closer and Fernando Salas will be his set-up man, Terry Collins said Monday.
"As of today, he would be that guy, because he has done it before and he's been successful at it," Collins said of Reed, who had a 1.97 ERA and identical 1.97 FIP in 80 games last season.
He and the Mets avoided salary arbitration in December, agreeing to a one-year deal worth $7.75 million, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
