The Red Sox have claimed left-handed pitcher Stephen Gonsalves off waivers from the Mets, who recently designated Gonsalves for assignment. The Mets had originally acquired Gonsalves by claiming him on waivers from the Twins back in early November of last year.
A former top prospect, the 26-year-old Gonsalves has thrown just 24.2 innings in the big leagues thus far in his career, all of which came in 2018 as a member of the Twins. In that brief time, he had a 6.57 ERA and 5.72 FIP.
