Rajai Davis is Mets victim of Michael Conforto’s return

Michael Conforto was activated from the injured list and played for the first time since suffering a concussion on May 16. The outfielder went 0-for-3 with a walk in Sunday’s 4-3 win over the Tigers at Citi Field.

To make room for Conforto, the Mets designated Rajai Davis for assignment, “with the hopes that nobody claims him, and he remains in the organization,” according to Mickey Callaway.

Davis appeared in four games with the Mets and delivered one of the season’s most memorable moments with Wednesday’s eighth-inning, three-run homer, following an unexpected call-up and 112-mile Uber ride from Pennsylvania.
