Quintana gets rocked again, Mets’ comeback comes up short

Jose Quintana might just be toast. The veteran continued an increasingly long streak of bad outings as he surrendered seven runs—all earned—in five innings of work in a game the Mets went on to lose 9-5.

A two-run home run by Anthony Santander opened the scoring against Quintana in the top of the first. And James McCann added a run with a sacrifice fly in the second.

The Mets got on the board on a double off the bat of Mark Vientos that plated one run—and perhaps could have plated two. But the Orioles added three runs immediately in the top of the fourth, as they scored one on an infield single before McCann hit a two-run home run to make it a 6-1 lead for Baltimore.
