Preview, thoughts on this week's Mets-Nationals series

Last week, Mets assistant GM John Ricco told reporters that Noah Syndergaard had an MRI of his right elbow on May 2. Syndergaard has since made three starts, during which he's 2-1 with a 1.71 ERA, while showing no signs of injury.

Nevertheless, I'm concerned about his elbow. I can't help it. It may be unwarranted, but it's not irrational. He's been so good, so dominant, and he throws his slider and fastball so hard, it's conditioning me to expect the worst, especially since he's getting incredible results. The fact is, we live in a world where MLB is consumed with Tommy John surgery, 15-month rehabs, so I can't help but have guarded optimism about Syndergaard's future.
