Kevin Plawecki has impressed the Mets, but his days on the major league roster appear numbered nonetheless.
With Travis d’Arnaud continuing baseball activities and the possibility he could rejoin the team within the next 10 days, manager Terry Collins said Wednesday it would be difficult to keep both d’Arnaud and Plawecki on the roster.
“When Travis comes back, you’re looking at guys who both should be playing, and that’s hard to do when only one of them can be out there,” Collins said before the Mets’ 9-0 loss to the Cardinals.
Plawecki, who arrived from Triple-A Las Vegas after d’Arnaud went on the disabled list with a broken right pinkie on April 21, is batting .
