Avoiding a series sweep seems to be the least of the Phillies’ concerns.
They’re out for revenge.
Phillies manager Gabe Kapler is “still fairly upset” over Mets pitcher Jacob Rhame throwing a 97-mph fastball behind first baseman Rhys Hoskins during the ninth inning of Tuesday’s 9-0 Mets demolition at Citi Field.
The dugouts cleared, with Kapler at the forefront, but an umpire issued warnings before an old-school baseball brawl between the NL East contenders could take off.
The Mets, of course, declared the snafu unintentional, while the Phillies vehemently disagreed, noting two Mets, Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil, were hit by pitches during Monday’s opener.
