Amid the furor surrounding the Mets over the promotion of stud prospect Michael Conforto plus the giddiness resulting from the reported trade acquisition of two major league hitters, one question emerged at Citi Field for Friday’s game with the Dodgers.
Who got the better of a baby birth situation: the Mets, because they avoided Dodger star righty Zack Greinke and faced Ian Thomas in his first Major League start; or Ian Thomas, because in his first major league start he faced the Mets?
Really, the question answered itself.
Conforto became a crowd darling the moment he stepped to the plate but Thomas, who had thrown 21 career innings in 23 games in the last two seasons, became master of the Mets the moment he stepped on the mound.
