Peter Alonso is crushing the ball and about to be in demand

In talks to acquire C J.T. Realmuto from the Marlins, Miami almost certainly asked Sandy Alderson about 1B prospect Peter Alonso, who at 23 years old is slugging .686 with 8 home runs in 29 games at Double-A this season.

In addition to showcasing his power this season, Alonso is also contributing articles to the Sporting News about his minor-league experience.

In his most recent post, Alonso described himself as a gladiator fighting his way through the minor leagues in hopes of soon joining the Mets.

"Believe it or not, baseball players and ancient Roman gladiators aren't so different," he explained.
