Pete Alonso is officially a New York Met.
According to MLB’s Anthony DiComo, the 24-year-old has secured a roster spot on the Mets’ Opening Day, 25 man roster. He will be starting at first base to begin the 2019 season reports Yahoo’s Matt Ehalt.
In Spring Training, Alonso had a batting average of .352 while hitting four home runs and driving in 11 RBIs across his 22 games played. Alonso played the most games out of any Met in Spring Training, using the extra playing time to be second on the team in hits and home runs, while accounting for the third most RBIs on the team.
