The New York Mets have struggled this season. Entering play on Saturday at 37-46, they sit 12 games out of first place. However, their struggles can’t be laid at the feet of Pete Alonso.
The rookie first baseman is slashing .280/.368/.633 entering Saturday’s game, with a Mets rookie record 28 home runs. He’s also produced 62 RBIs.
Alonso is also a great teammate, establishing himself in the clubhouse despite his lack of experience. Alonso went to bat for his teammates in the lineup, telling SNY that he feels they have a strong offense.
