Pete Alonso’s indoctrination into the Subway Series wouldn’t have been complete without a jog around the bases Tuesday.
Add Yankee Stadium to the list of launch sites for the Mets rookie, who homered in the first inning in Game 2 of the split doubleheader.
“I’m really looking forward to the ones at Citi Field, this environment was nuts,” Alonso said after the Mets’ 10-4 victory in the nightcap. “I am just really looking forward to the next two [Subway] games.”
Alonso’s blast was the first of three for the Mets. J.D. Davis and Carlos Gomez also homered on a night when Yankees starter James Paxton was knocked out after only 2²/u2083 innings, in which he allowed six runs.
