During the Mets’ win in their series finale in Arizona earlier today, Pete Alonso hit the 221st home run of his career and passed Mike Piazza to move into third place on the franchise’s all-time home run leaders.
With that, there are only two players ahead of Alonso in Mets history: Darryl Strawberry with 252 home runs and David Wright with 242. Alonso could pass one or both of them if he remains in a Mets uniform for at least one more season.
Not including the 2024 season, Alonso has averaged 44 home runs per season in the four full seasons he’s spent in the big leagues.
