Pete Alonso day to day after hit by pitch

Related Topics: Pete Alonso, Edwin Díaz

After being hit by a pitch on the right hand in the first inning on Wednesday, imaging results came back negative for Pete Alonso. The team announced that Alonso is considered day to day and was left out of tonight’s starting lineup against the Diamondbacks. Mark Vientos is playing first base in Alonso’s stead.

Coming on the same day as Edwin Díaz hit the Injured List, Alonso appears to have dodged a bullet in what is already an injury-plagued season for the Mets. With Brooks Raley out for the season, Kodai Senga still dealing with discomfort, and Francisco Álvarez beginning his rehab assignment tonight.
