FORT MYERS, Fla. — Some work days are a little better than others. Zack Wheeler had already had himself a fine day at the office, throwing four innings of one-hit ball at a Red Sox lineup that looked awfully similar to the one that won the World Series last year. After a forgettable start to the spring, that would have been enough.
But as Wheeler settled in to talk about his shift, the man who currently wears No. 45 for the Mets suddenly found himself on the receiving end of a handshake from the man who used to wear that number for the Mets.
