Padres' Rea flirted with a no-hitter, shut down the Mets on Thursday

25-year-old Padres starter Colin Rea surrendered his first hit against the Mets in the seventh inning on Thursday when Yoenis Cespedes snuck a ground ball through the right side of San Diego's infield shift.

"We were aware of what was going on," Cespedes said about Rea's no-hit bid. "The job was just try to go to home plate as a team and get the job done to get a hit."

According to Cespedes, he was not trying to intentionally hit through the shift. Instead, it was simply the result of changing his swing a bit based on how he'd been hitting earlier in the game.
