Padres Batter Logan Verrett and Drop Mets Under .500

At some point, something about this Mets season has to change if they have any thought of making the postseason. After an 8-6 loss to the rebuilding San Diego Padres on Friday, the Mets have lost four straight games, dropping under .500 for the first time since April 17.

Despite considering other options, the Mets stuck with Logan Verrett, who surrendered eight runs and four homers, notched only eight outs and left the game to loud boos. The bullpen retired 19 straight Padres after Verrett’s exit, and the Mets made the game interesting after falling behind by 8-2, but their comeback fell short.
