Five days after the Mets designated outfielder Keon Broxton for assignment, they have worked out a deal with the Orioles that will send Broxton to Baltimore in exchange for $500,000 in international signing bonus slots.
Broxton’s tenure as a Met was much briefer than Brodie Van Wagenen and the front office likely anticipated when they traded for him in January. Enticed by his multiple years of team control, strong defense, and some upside with the bat, the Mets dealt minor leaguers Adam Hill and Felix Valerio to Milwaukee, as well as Bobby Wahl, the centerpiece of the Jeurys Familia trade at last year’s trading deadline, for Broxton.
