The first time Bobby Valentine really listened to the Mike and the Mad Dog Show, he was traveling in a car down to New York and was also the topic of their conversation. The Mets had decided to name him their new manager but instead of having him fly in from Rhode Island -- the club was worried he'd be found out by media at the airport -- they told him to drive to Queens.
So he and Bob Apodaca, his pitching coach, got in a car, turned on the air conditioner and put on 660 AM on their radio.
