Free-agent relievers Darren O'Day, Ryan Madson and Joakim Soria are reportedly no longer available.
O'Day agreed to a four-year, $31 million deal with the Orioles. Madson got three years and $22 million from the A's. And, Soria will reportedly return to the Royals on a three-year, $25 million contract.
Nevertheless, despite being in the market for setup man, Mets officials told ESPN NY that they were not looking to spend at the level O'Day and Madson reportedly received (Dec. 7, 9:20 am).
"We didn't see ourselves playing in that top end where O'Day was," Mets assistant GM John Ricco told reporters at the MLB Winter Meetings on Sunday.
