As if having to be subjected to ESPN’s broadcast isn’t indignity enough, the Mets nearly got swept by the Braves tonight at Citi Field against a starter on the ropes. However, an unlikely hero stepped up at the end of the game to put the Mets over the top, defeating their division rivals 4-3.
Luis Severino, despite having some control issues early, completed five plus innings of two-run, three-walk, four-hit baseball. Severino, despite not going deep into the game, continues to look so much better than he did late in his Yankees run.
