The Mets have been roaring back late all series, but this time they fell on the other side of a late comeback.
Big hits by the Nationals in the sixth and seventh innings secured the game as the Mets lost 7-5 Wednesday night at Nationals Park. The Mets (42-42) took an early lead and enjoyed a strong start by rookie Christian Scott - returning to Major League action after more than a month back in the Minors - but couldn’t hold their advantage.
Scott gave up his first hit in the fourth inning and his first run in the fifth off an RBI single from third baseman Ildemaro Vargas.
