NEW YORK -- Mets starting pitcher Jon Niese was ejected in the sixth inning of Friday night's Subway Series game against the Yankees, despite never stepping foot on the field at Yankee Stadium.
Niese, who did not appear in the game, was ejected by home-plate umpire Doug Eddings during Juan Lagares' at-bat in the top of the sixth inning. Several Mets appeared upset by Eddings' strike zone early in the evening, with Yankees starter Michael Pineda catching them looking on three of his first five strikeouts.
