The offense did just enough against Zack Wheeler and a solid performance by Tylor Megill, a key go-ahead home run by Brandon Nimmo, and masterful work by the bullpen lifted the Mets to a crucial 2-1 victory over the Phillies at Citi Field.
Things looked shaky for Megill early and the Phillies struck first in the top of the first. After striking out the leadoff hitter Kyle Schwarber, Megill gave up a single to Trea Turner and a costly wild pitch advanced Turner to second. He bounced back to strike out Bryce Harper looking, but then Alec Bohm drove in Turner with a single for the game’s first run.
