Noah Syndergaard’s flop sets off Mets’ wild-card game alarms

Hiccup, hiccup.

Normally that sound wouldn’t be alarming for an elite starting pitcher at some point in a long season, but it’s also September and the Mets have plenty riding on Noah Syndergaard’s right arm.

The Mets hope they will be playing a National League wild-card game on Oct. 5, and Syndergaard is the pitcher they want on the mound that night. At least he will have two more starts to potentially bury the memory of the stink bomb he detonated Monday.

Syndergaard was mercifully knocked out in the fourth inning after allowing five earned runs in the Mets’ 7-3 loss to the Braves at Citi Field that snapped their three-game winning streak.
