Noah Syndergaard’s 100-mph heat left literal impression on his catcher

PHILADELPHIA — Kevin Plawecki might want to leave his jewelry in the clubhouse the next time he catches Noah Syndergaard.

With Syndergaard humming his triple-digit heat on Monday, topping out at 102 miles per hour, Plawecki was left branded by a cross that dangles from his necklace after trying to block a fastball from the right-hander.

Syndergaard, who pitched seven innings against the Phillies in which he allowed one run, threw 12 pitches in the first two innings alone that registered at least 100 mph.
