Noah Syndergaard walked into a buzz saw named Bumgarner

Noah Syndergaard played the part of John Smoltz, which on most days — especially October days — was pretty darn special.

But on this night, Madison Bumgarner channeled his inner Jack Morris or maybe just his inner Madison Bumgarner. It was October. Columbus Day, Halloween, brilliance from the Giants ace.

You might remember in one of the great games ever, Game 7 of the 1991 World Series, Oct. 27, 1991, Smoltz threw 7 ¹/u2083 shutout innings for the Braves. But Morris delivered 10 for the Twins, looked like he might have been able to go 15 and the Twins won the title.
