PITTSBURGH — There were more bursts of promise, and a few more raw moments, for the right-hander Noah Syndergaard here on Friday night. The nascent steps of his three-game stay in the major leagues have whetted the appetites of the Mets and their fans for a longer look at his stuff, and Manager Terry Collins revealed on Friday that he would get his chance.
Syndergaard, a sturdy 22-year-old, provided six mostly solid innings — giving up four runs, allowing seven hits and notching five strikeouts — in front of a crowd of 33,337 at PNC Park, where the Mets lost, 4-1, to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
