Noah Syndergaard brings the heat as Mets top Phillies, 5-2

PHILADELPHIA -- Noah Syndergaard came out firing Monday.

Syndergaard registered 101 miles per hour with his fastball three times in the first inning, David Wright homered twice and the New York Mets ultimately beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-2, at Citizens Bank Park.

The Mets (6-6) returned to .500 for the first time since the second series of the season. The Phillies ended up taking two of three games that weekend at Citi Field.

In Monday's series opener, Yoenis Cespedes tripled with two outs in the sixth inning against Jerad Eickhoff.
