There is a limit on innings limits, apparently. But there may not be any restrictions on trade speculation about Matt Harvey this winter.
It came up during the Mets’ press conference Wednesday to announce Terry Collins’ contract extension. A question about possibly exploring Harvey’s potential value within the industry led Mets’ GM Sandy Alderson to heap praise on the righty and call the query, “about as speculative a question as I will probably get today.”
But with Harvey headed to arbitration for the first time this winter and the Mets in need of a bat, it’s a natural to ask if Harvey, or any of the other high-ceiling pitchers, could be trade chips.
