Nimmo, Manaea, and the Mets bounce back

Tonight’s 7-3 victory over the Miami Marlins at Citi Field was a much needed breakout night for the Mets, but especially for Brandon Nimmo, whose three-run homer was the pivotal moment of a six-run fourth inning that was the turning point of the game.

Sean Manaea began his night with an 11-pitch walk to Xavier Edwards, which seemed like a bad omen, but he ended up keeping his pitch count low enough to complete seven innings, giving up three runs on five hits, striking out four batters and walking only one—the walk to Edwards to lead off the game.
