Nick Madrigal left Sunday’s split-squad game against the Washington Nationals after dislocating his left shoulder on a play in the first inning. Madrigal is being sent for an MRI to determine the seriousness of the injury.
Madrigal, who signed a split deal with the Mets on January 31st, was brought in to be the Mets’ infield utility man. He has experience playing second and third base, but hasn’t played shortstop at the major league level. That is what Madrigal was doing this afternoon in West Palm Beach when he dislocated his shoulder after making a leaping throw to first base.
