New York’s had its share of soul-crushing home playoff losses

I remember the first time. We were sitting about six rows from the very top of Giants Stadium. It was Jan. 7, 1990, and a few of us had lucked into playoff tickets for the Giants-Rams game that day. Not all of us were Giants fans, but that didn’t matter. We hadn’t come from the great distances we had come from to root for Los Angeles, for crying out loud.

Of course, if you are a Giants fan, you don’t need to be reminded of the awful details of that day, right? Up 13-7 heading into the fourth quarter.
