There are certain positions in the history of the New York Mets where it’s easy to find a deep selection of top seasons. Unfortunately, first base hasn’t been one of the most elite spots on the baseball diamond for this franchise.
As of 2019, the last time they had a first baseman selected to the National League All-Star roster was in the 1980s. This doesn’t mean everyone who has played first base for the Mets since has been an absolute dud. In fact, they’ve had some really solid first basemen over the last 30 years.
First base is a position where you often want an offense-first player.
