New York Mets: More Bad News as Closer Jeurys Familia Diagnosed With Blot Clot

The New York Mets’ nightmare season of injuries and insanity continued on Thursday when it was learned that closer Jeurys Familia was diagnosed with an arterial clot in his right shoulder.

The clot was discovered by the medical team at he Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Familia will see Dr. Robert Thompson tomorrow in St. Louis for further tests and possible surgery. The team had no further comment. Mets GM Sandy Alderson will speak to the media pregame tomorrow in Milwaukee.

According to the Mets’ official website, Thompson is the surgeon who performed Matt Harvey‘s operation for thoracic outlet syndrome last season.
