The New York Mets on Sunday night avoided a second-straight series where they would’ve been on the losing end of a sweep. They also avoided losing an eighth-straight contest.
New York ultimately rallied to defeat the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves, 8-5. This was powered by a five-run eighth inning, which included a solo home run from Todd Frazier, a two-run single from Jeff McNeil, and a two-run double from Pete Alonso.
Edwin Diaz then recorded the save to finish it out in the top of the ninth inning, as the Mets moved to 38-47 on the season.
