Every game is crucial from here on out for the New York Mets. They entered their game on Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks 4.0 games back in the National League Wild Card race with 19 to play. Zack Wheeler had to be great when he took the mound and he delivered.
The right-hander threw 7.0 innings, allowing seven hits, and one earned run. He only walked two batters and struck out seven in the midst of the Mets surging ahead for the 3-2 victory. After the game, manager Mickey Callaway made it know how much he appreciated wheeler’s efforts.
